Synopsis

Our two campers Chris and Rosy have a wonderful evening together, only to have a restless night afterwards. What makes  them lose their cool and how will they solve the problem?

Film Facts

This is the biggest, most elaborate and, with the exception of our film “Undercover Cowboy”, the longest film we have ever made. The production (including pre- and post-production) took almost 1.5 years.

After the first GONE CAMPING episode as well as the Christmas movie “Making Christmas” we knew that we would get almost everything done. That’s why we didn’t hold back when writing the script and included, among other things, a huge scene that we would never have dared to do a few years ago.

The film consists of over 90 individual shots (Episode 1 had about 60), 60 of which were supplemented in one way or another with visual effects. The data volume of all photos, videos, images and other files amounts to almost 1 TB.

The creation of visual effects like adjusting backgrounds, adding smoke or fire, 3D camera movements, inserting sparks or water, masking out aids and making color adjustments took almost as long as the animation itself.

Fun Facts

As is so often the case, the idea for the story came from real experiences. Stefan (Hirsch) used to go camping a lot with his family and the caravan. There were often such restless nights because a family member disturbed the peace.

The harbor scene has a lot of small details that you can only see if you look at the scene several times and know where to look. For example, the boat on the left pulls R2D2 (the robot from the Star Wars movies) out of the water on its winch, and in an open container on the right, a couple gets down to business. Unfortunately hidden behind the right boat is an animation where a mouse runs by and one dock worker jumps on the other’s arms out of fear.

A not insignificant part of the movie takes place in the interior of the camper. We built the interio separately, because there would have been way too little space in the real interior. The special build is in reality about 3 times as big as the real interior of the camper model.

The spider, which almost always makes a brief appearance in our films, is featured more prominently this time. Likewise, a shark makes an appearance again. And a rock plays an important role once more.

The film contains an “after-credit scene”, that is, a scene after the credits.
