An ox in the field is being harassed by an annoying fly.
The whole film consists of only one shot.
The Ox is an official LEGO set for the “Year of the Ox”.
The flies were added to the film after the fact. The ox was animated without the flies. This meant that when animating, it had to be clearly defined where the fly was going so that the ox would look in the correct places.
The LEGO set “Year of the Ox”, with which this film was made, was sent to me as a gift from LEGO when I made an order there. At that time I didn’t know what to do with it. My wife assembled the set and the ox has been sitting in my studio collecting dust ever since.
When I happened to glance at the ox on the shelf while animating for the new GONE CAMPING episode, the idea of the fly suddenly occured to me. A few evenings later, I decided to shoot it right away. So I set everything up and animated the entire scene in one piece within a couple of hours, practically defining the story as I animated it.
The fly sounds were created with a kazoo.
All the music as well as the fly sounds were recorded by myself. So the nature background sounds as well as the flapping are the only sounds that were not produced by a human voice.
Unfortunately, I completely forgot the running-gag spider in the heat of the moment… But it would hardly have had any place in this short film.
